Wyn is a freelance consultant who delivers workshop modules as part of this programme on behalf of Menter a Busnes and Aberystwyth Business School. Wyn specialises in Occupational Psychology, Action Learning, Coaching, Organisational change.and has extensive experience of: Organisational Change Consultancy, Coaching and Mentoring, Personal and Professional Development, Occupational psychometrics, Facilitation, Leadership & Management Training
 


Jose Gayo Pelaez, Lecturer Swansea University

Jose Gayo Pelaez, Lecturer Swansea University

Jose is a Researcher and lecturer in the Department of Engineering at Swansea. He is module coordinator for all three Swansea Modules: Microalgal Technologies - progress towards a circular economy, Fermentation Technology for Food & Agricultural Applications and Membrane Technology and Applications modules. Jose is a biologist, who specialises in environmental biotechnology, with several years of industry and university experience. He studied at the University of Oviedo, in the north of Spain, where he is from. Jose joined the distance learning team in 2021, and now applies his knowledge of circular economy, bioremediation and applied science in his lectures.

Prof Darren Oatley Radcliffe, Swansea University Lead

I am a chemical and bioprocess engineer and am an Associate Professor in the ESRI research centre at Swansea University. I have several years’ experience in industry working in both Oil & Gas and Pharmaceuticals. As a result, I am highly experienced in the design, development and scale-up of processes equipment from lab scale to the factories.

Dolly manages the administration of IBERSDL.  Her background is in project and finance management in both the public and the voluntary sectors.

Marty Spittle, Project Manager

Marty manages the development and delivery of IBERS’ Distance Learning programmes. Marty has over 20 years’ experience of successfully developing new, and growing existing projects. Her educational background and most of her career have been in the agri-environmental sector, covering education, advice and research. She has also spent 10 years managing and fundraising for substance misuse/mental health services.


Dr Will Stiles, Lecturer

Dr Will Stiles, Lecturer

Will is a Lecturer for BioInnovation Wales and leads the Knowledge Exchange Hub in IBERS for Farming Connect. He divides his time between coordinating postgraduate modules on Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) and Waste Resource Management, and coordinating the provision of scientific support for the Farming Connect programme from the Knowledge Exchange Hub. Will has a background in soil science and ecology and his research looks for ways to reduce the environmental impact of agriculture and make farming and food production more sustainable. 


Dr Sarah Watson-Jones, Teaching Team Co-Leader

Dr Sarah Watson-Jones, Teaching Team Co-Leader

Sarah is joint leader of the Distance Learning Teaching Team and, primarily, coordinates the modules that have a plant science and/or agri-environment focus, in addition to the Behaviour Change module. Sarah worked in agriculture for several years before returning to education to study for a degree in Field Biology and Habitat Management and found she enjoyed studying so much that she went on to do a PhD which focused on population genetics and conservation of plant genetic resources. She joined the distance learning team after a variety of roles in the environmental and academic sectors including community project management, ecological consultancy, training, lecturing and research.


Dr Peter Wootton-Beard, Research Coordinator

Dr Peter Wootton-Beard, Research Coordinator

Peter coordinates the Plant Breeding, Horticultural Science, Research Methods and Nuffield Scholars modules.  He is also co-ordinator for all distance learning research elements including M.Sc., M.Res., and D. Ag / Prof. Doc. He has research interests in horticulture and controlled environment systems, from plant production to human nutrition.  He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, A Chartered Horticulturalist and a Registered Nutritionist.
