MRes in Agriculture
A ‘Research Masters’ programme places a greater emphasis on research, rather than on taught elements. The MRes is worth 180 credits and can be achieved by successfully completing:
Typically students will spend one year completing the taught elements and two years on their research project. However the time allowed is up to 5 years over all. Applicants should consider research projects that they might complete in the work place and potential data sources. Where work based projects are not possible, we may be able to provide access to data or lab facilities as an alternative. Please contact us to find out what's available.
Students wishing to work towards a doctorate will be registered on the MRes in the first instance as this forms Part 1 of the DAg qualification
I am Markus Ritter, on the Research Masters (MRes) in Agriculture course, working on a project to evaluate the adoption of biocontrol in large row crop agriculture in Brazil. I am taking the course while working for Andermatt Biocontrol a Swiss company dedicated to the development and commercialisation of biocontrol products. These modules have helped me to update myself and to get a more in-depth understanding of the sustainability concept. The MRes project, a qualitative research study, applying the "Grounded Theory" methodology, is bringing interesting insights into the understanding of the farmer behaviour and the farmer 's consciousness of what sustainable farming is. When talking to other leaders in the bio industry, I notice a learning progress, I gained through studying IBERS distance learning modules and the research project. ,
